Anyone
in Kentucky who knows of or
suspects sexual abuse,
physical abuse or neglect of
any child is required by
law to report it
immediately to the
authorities (police,
prosecutors or Child
Protective Services)
-- Louisville
Courier-Journal, 11/20/2011
-
Any
person who "knows or
has reasonable cause to
believe" that a child
is dependent, neglected
or abused shall immediately make an oral
or written report to a local law enforcement
agency or the Kentucky
State Police, the
Cabinet for Health and
Family Services, or the
county attorney or
commonwealth's
attorney. Any supervisor
who receives from an
employee a report of
suspected dependency,
neglect or abuse shall
promptly make a report
to the proper
authorities for
investigation. Neither
the privilege that
forbids spouses from
being required to
testify against nor any
patient-client privilege
shall be a ground for
refusing to report. The
only exceptions are the
attorney-client and
clergy-penitent
privilege. Reports made
in good faith are immune
from lawsuits.

issue of a parent's repeated
efforts to convince the

parties or their
counsel. The
Trial Court refused to allow
the 10-year-old child to
testify or be
examined. Mother
claimed this was an abuse of
discretion; Court of Appeals
agreed with the Trial Court:
