PASSWORD SAFETY:

Do not pick obvious words or numbers for your password.
Make sure to include a combination of letters and numbers
for your password. |
The Kentucky Cabinet for
Health and Family Services warns victims of abuse that using a computer
at home, or where an abuser has access to it, can be very dangerous. The
Cabinet cautions that it is impossible to erase all of your
computer browsing history. Additionally, spyware can be
installed onto your computer without your knowledge and give the abuser
ways to track and monitor your computer activity. See http://chfs.ky.gov
for more safety information.
The National
Coalition Against Domestic Violence has a number of internet
safety suggestions. See www.ncadv.org
for more information. Never
assume that your abuser is NOT able to track your activities while
surfing the internet, that he/she is not hacking into your email account
or that no one is paying attention to what you are doing on-line.
You need to presume that he/she knows everything you are doing on
your home computer. Instead, use a friend's computer, go to the
library to get on-line, check your email from work, etc.
